 GET UP! GET INVOVLVED!Alpha Yaya Diallo has been asked to write a single for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Geneva, Switzerland. The name of the song Alpha is working on is called Immé Africa!/ Get Up Africa! It will form part of a compilation CD titled We Are the Drums. The UNDP’s goal is to use music to mobilize the African Youth to become more aware of the various issues facing the continent. In 2000 the United Nations identified 8 specific goals that would help address these issues. They include the eradication of extreme hunger and poverty, combating HIV/AIDS and promoting gender equality to name a few. The UNDP is developing a specific plan that will be announced shortly on how We Are the Drums will be used to help mobilize the African youth.
